The Daily News

Excerpt from the Daily News:
In Southern England, a man has been found dead at the base of a high ten storey office building.
The broken bones and injuries were numerous.
After being examined by a team of professional medics and crime scene investigators, it was concluded that the man was not pushed, nor had he been in a struggle.
The man has not been identified, but is believed to have been thirty at the time of death.
Therapists from a local hospital have come forwards to give statements. They have had this man as a client. They have not yet disclosed any name.
Doctor Williamson, head of the Mental Health department, issued the Daily News with this statement:
“[The man] had come to us for support. We had believed we were making some modicum of progress when he abruptly stopped turning up. Evidently, he reverted to depression and killed himself.”
The death has been ruled as intentional suicide
Handler comments: It’s always good to hear how one of our recruits has gone down in style. Good work – he followed the last assignment to the letter.
Handler message to head of department: I’m sorry to say that we’ve lost another one. Still, Operative Arran Brown did perform some good assignments and finally kept the MONARCH Project a secret. Unfortunately, due to his inquiring into the MONARCH Project, he had to be terminated. Of course, it’s not like he remembered enough to inform anyone.

I'm Terrified

I saw that last post.
All the memories came flooding back. I don’t want them. They terrify me.
I know what ‘Octave Tango Delta’ is. I know why I have been waking up at times, and not knowing where I am.
I remember why I have been writing on this blog, in the reports.
It wasn’t a product of my creativity.
It was the truth.
The plain, simple truth.
I know what I must do. I know that there is no way to stop it, and any action I take will serve only to further it.
I don’t know if I can do this. It’s too much, too fast, too scary for me.
To quote Rihanna:
“And you can see my heart beating
You can see it through my chest.
Said I'm terrified but I'm not leaving
I know that I must pass this test”

I know that I must pass this final test.

Remembrance

The therapist wasn’t much help.
They told me that, as I was not currently a British citizen, I was not entitled to free healthcare. In other words, they mean that because I’m foreign or because they don’t like the look of me, they will make me pay. Now I think I really will go insane.
I moved away from here in England two years ago, and stayed with my sister who lives in Australia for one year. Apparently now I don’t qualify as a British citizen.
I don’t think they have the right to do that but I’ll look into it.
I can do without the therapist; I’ve been progressing on my own.
I’ve been remembering things. Terrible things. Things from many years ago.
Impossible things, things that shouldn’t have happened… yet they did.
I remember being kidnapped. I was pulled from the street, a cloth round my face, soaked in some chemical. I passed out quickly. The raid was fast and efficient.
I remember being forced to comply. I remember being tortured, and not giving in. I remember being tortured, and giving in.
I remember a huge glass tank. I remember thick liquid, holding me there floating, yet I could breathe.
I remember the electricity – every time I moved, the agony would start again.
I remember losing consciousness, time and time and time and time and time again.
After time my mind got the message. I could not move even an inch. I was prevented by my own subconscious.
I remember the voice. Talking to me. Commanding me.
The worst thing is, I don’t remember what they said.
I remember a rhythm, a poem? It dug deep into my mind, embedded itself, but I do not remember it.
I do not remember it.

Assignment #4

Once there, you are to pierce the security in the Hawkin’s Laboratory for Astrophysics and infiltrate it. There will be Closed Circuit Television Cameras in the area, so be sure to disable the link between the control room’s main monitors and the CCTV cameras before you begin retrieval.
The package is in Lab twenty eight. It is most likely clearly marked “Important: Do Not Remove”.
Once found, it must be returned to us immediately.
END OF ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION
Handler comments: Assignment was carried out. Performance was average for a MONARCH, that is to say the task was performed at optimum capability. This is yet another demonstration of the total success had.

It Happened Again

It happened again.
I woke up to find that I’d dozed off at the keyboard again. I remembered what had happened last time I did that, and so I was excited to see that I’d written another short blog post.
‘Assignment Type: Elimination’? It sounds like something out of a James Bond movie.
Could this be me creating an outlet for my stress? Writing about the life of a secret agent?
It’s possible, but then I don’t see where the ‘handler’ part comes in.
Maybe it would be safest if I went to get a psychiatrist or a therapist have a look at me. Just in case.
Yes, I think I’ll do that.

Assignment #3

BEGIN ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION
Operative Codename: Arran Brown
Assignment Number: 3
Assignment Type: Elimination

You have progressed enough and shown your ability enough to be ready for higher level assignments. However, we have a final test to ensure that you are completely established in your personality.
In your second assignment you were set to tail a target. This is now taken one step further.
You will be provided with your choice of weapons, bladed, or projectile. You must use your surveillance skills and also the aiming practice you have undergone to eliminate the target.
END OF ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION
Handler comments: Assignment complete. No emotion was shown, and no mercy was given. Elimination was swift, efficient and effective.
Handler note: Arran Brown is constantly advancing, and the program appears to have been sufficient.

I Do Not Recall Posting This

My name is Jacob Saunders and I am twenty one years old.
I woke up yesterday, and I was sitting on a chair with my laptop open. I was curious, because I didn’t remember writing anything. I had a look.
I found this blog, titled Assignment Report, with the caption of ‘MONARCH Proxy’. It sounds like a very interesting little story, and I’m not sure how I could have written it. I have very little writing talent, after all. All my English teachers used to put me to the bottom of the class, just because I was originally French and had problems with English.
Those days are behind me now; I can read, write and speak English almost as fluently as a native while still retaining my mothertongue French. See how I refer to it as French now, rather than Français? I really have been over in this cold, rainy island for too long.
If I am sleepwriting, or otherwise writing in my sleep, I think I will keep my laptop on at all times. Who knows, I could be the next J. K. Rowling while asleep!
Wait. I’m not a touch typist. How could I have typed while asleep?
Oh, it’s just one of those things. Science will answer it one day. They probably have already.

Assignment #2

BEGIN ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION
Operative Codename: Arran Brown
Assignment Number: 2
Assignment Type: Surveillance
Assignment:
You are to tail a target and keep a watch on them for twenty four hours. After that time, all information gained will be placed in a written report in full.
The target’s description will be placed below.
Target has red hair.
Target has grey/dull eyes.
Target can often be found in the Sainsbury’s shopping centre near to where you are currently based. The target’s first name is Rob. This will be needed is operative can get close enough to read their tag. The target’s full name is irrelevant.
Notes:
This assignment is about creativity, not brute force.
You will be timed from the moment you first identify the target correctly.
You must survey the target for twenty four hours and no less or the assignment will be failed.
END OF ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION
Handler comments: Your second assignment was as good as your first. You actually managed to keep surveillance on the target for twenty six hours, one hundred and twenty minutes longer than was required. The written report was three thousand words long, a good length for this type of assignment report, and it contained all important details and more.
